The
history of Murano Glass carries parallel to the history of the Republic of Venice,
being born, developping itself, blooming and living periods of deep crisis, in
such a singular tuning with the political and economic vicissitudes of the Venetian
State. |

is so difficult, but not impossibile, to summarize in short lines one long hitory.
In fact, along thirteen centuries Venice was the only glass manufacturer centre
which was a close link between the glass from the Roman Empire, and nowadays'

 | In
1291, to avoid awful fires caused by furnaces, the" Great Council" relefated
them in Murano, allowing only small furnaces to remain in the centre of the City.
In these small furnaces the production of "verixelli" was born, colored
jewels to imitate hard stones. |  |
